Zelensky to Trump: Ukraine needs support - 1

Ukraine needs broader security guarantees, and Russian President Vladimir Putin is not afraid of Europe. This was stated by Head of State Volodymyr Zelensky, quoted by "Reuters" and News.bg.

In an interview with "Fox News", he called on US President Donald Trump to take Ukraine's side in the conflict against Russia.

Trump, who took office on January 20, promised to soon end the war between Russia and Ukraine, but did not specify how he intends to achieve this. According to his aides, the process could take months. Although Trump has expressed a willingness to talk to Putin to end the war, his stance contrasts with that of former President Joe Biden's administration, which has avoided direct dialogue with the Russian leader.

Trump's victory in the November election has raised both hopes for a diplomatic solution to the conflict and concerns in Kiev that a quick peace deal could come at a high price for Ukraine.

"We want Trump to be on the side of justice, on the side of Ukraine," Zelensky insisted in the interview, broadcast on Tuesday night. He stressed that Putin is not afraid of Europe and that the West must act decisively.

Zelensky added that Ukraine cannot recognize the Russian occupation but remains open to a diplomatic solution.

Since the Russian invasion began, the United States under Biden has provided more than $175 billion in aid to Ukraine, including more than $60 billion in military support. It remains unclear whether Trump will maintain the same level of support for Kyiv.
