Hackers linked to China, Iran and other foreign governments are using American artificial intelligence tools to intensify cyberattacks not only against Washington, but also against the rest of the world, reports "Wall Street Journal", quoted by News.bg.
The publication refers to American officials and the latest research in the field of cybersecurity.
According to the revelations, in 2024, multiple hacking groups used Google LLC's Gemini chatbot to help them create malicious code, as well as to identify already known cyber vulnerabilities. The tool has also been used to identify specific companies that could be targeted.
Google says the attackers have ties to China, Iran, Russia and North Korea.
“AI is not yet a panacea for hackers - in fact, it can be a much more useful tool for defenders. Its impact is mainly in increasing efficiency, allowing attackers to work faster and at a larger scale,“ said Sandra Joyce, Google's vice president of threat intelligence.
