Two earthquakes with a magnitude of 4.1 and 3.7 on the Richter scale were registered this morning in the sea off the island of Zakynthos, southwestern Greece, ANA-MPA reported.
The stronger of the two occurred at 9:36 a.m. local (and Bulgarian) time with an epicenter 38 km southwest of the village of Keri, and the depth of the focus was 11.8 km.
The second tremor was in the same area 9 minutes later at a depth of 15.2 km.
So far, there are no reports of casualties or damage.
Zakynthos is in a seismically active region that remembers earthquakes with a magnitude of over seven. In March last year, the island was hit by a 5.7 magnitude earthquake.
