Great Britain, China and Spain categorically oppose any attempts to forcibly relocate Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, as well as former US President Donald Trump's proposal for the US to take control of the territory, BTA reports.
“There should be no forced displacement of Palestinians, nor any reduction in the territory of Gaza“, British Minister Anneliese Dodds told parliament.
Her position comes in response to Trump's idea of turning Gaza into a tourist resort under US rule.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the proposal “remarkable“ and called for it to be considered.
China also rejected the idea, saying it firmly supports the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
“Gaza is part of the Palestinian territory, not a political bargaining chip“, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun.
China expressed its willingness to work with the international community to achieve a two-state solution to the conflict.
Spain also reacted strongly against the plans to resettle Palestinians. Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albarez has rejected Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz's proposal for Spain to accept Palestinian refugees.
"Gaza is the land of the Palestinians and should be part of the future Palestinian state," he said.
Israeli media reported that Katz had ordered the army to draw up a plan for the "voluntary evacuation" of Gazans. He added that countries such as Spain, Ireland and Norway, which recognized a Palestinian state in 2023, were "legally obligated" to accept Palestinian refugees.
