US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said last night that the Gaza Strip is currently “uninhabitable” due to dangers such as unexploded ordnance and that its residents will have to live elsewhere while the enclave is rebuilt, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
Rubio, commenting on the issue during his visit to the Dominican Republic, called on other countries to offer assistance in rebuilding Gaza, but did not say anything about whether Palestinians would be able to return to it, according to US President Donald Trump's proposal to take control and rebuild the enclave.
“I think that's the reality: to fix a place like this, people are going to have to live temporarily elsewhere,“ Rubio said.
At the same time, the news portal “Axios“, citing Israeli officials, reported that Rubio is planning a tour of Israel, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and possibly other Middle Eastern countries later this month east.
