In an interview with Israel's "Channel 14", Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Saudi Arabia has enough land to provide territory to the Palestinians for their own state, the "Jerusalem Post" reported.
"The Saudis can create a Palestinian state in Saudi Arabia; "they have a lot of land there," he said.
When asked about a Palestinian state as a condition for normalizing relations, Netanyahu said he "will not make an agreement that would threaten the state of Israel."
"Especially not for a Palestinian state. After October 7? Do you know what that is? There was a Palestinian state, it was called Gaza. Gaza, run by Hamas, was a Palestinian state, and look what we got - the biggest massacre since the Holocaust," Netanyahu said.
The interview was conducted during Netanyahu's visit to Washington, which began with a joint press conference with US President Donald Trump, at which the president announced his plan for the US to control the Gaza Strip, notes the "Jerusalem Post".
The two leaders also discussed the possibility of normalizing relations with Saudi Arabia, with Netanyahu saying: "I think peace between Israel and Saudi Arabia is not only possible, but it will happen."
Shortly after the press conference, however, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said that it would not discuss the issue of relations with Israel without the creation of a Palestinian state.
