The US Coast Guard announced that it had found the wreckage of the passenger plane "Cesna Caravan", which disappeared over Norton Sound on Thursday afternoon with 10 people on board, reported DPA, quoted by BTA.

The wreckage was found about 55 km southeast of the city of Nome, which is located on the west coast of Alaska. Rescuers came across three bodies, the Coast Guard reported on the social network "Ex". A photo of the badly damaged plane, which crashed in a snowy area, was also uploaded to the publication. "The bodies of the remaining 7 people are believed to be on the plane, but are currently unavailable," the Coast Guard also wrote.

The Bering Air plane was on a scheduled flight from Unalakleet to Nome. It took off from Unalakleet Airport on Wednesday at 2:37 p.m. (1:37 a.m. Bulgarian time), and contact with it was lost less than an hour later.

Earlier today, Benjamin McIntyre-Coble, an officer with the Alaska Coast Guard, said at a press conference that the plane began to rapidly lose altitude and speed before disappearing from radar. He said the weather conditions were poor, but it was not yet clear why the aircraft lost altitude.

This is the third deadly plane crash in the United States in recent days. On January 30, an American Airlines passenger plane collided with a military helicopter near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in downtown Washington. The crash killed 67 people. Two days later, a small medical plane crashed in Philadelphia, killing seven.
