Canada has extended an official invitation to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to attend the G7 summit, which will be held in June in the province of Alberta, in the western part of the country. This was announced by a spokesman for the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, quoted by Agence France-Presse, BTA reports.
The invitation was made during a telephone conversation between Canada's new Prime Minister Mark Carney and Zelensky. Canada took over the rotating presidency of the G7 at the beginning of this year and will host the meeting of leaders of the world's leading economies.
Last year, Zelensky also attended the G7 summit, which was held in Puglia, Italy, while the country was the rotating chairman of the format, the agency recalls.
