The Turkish parliament will form a special commission to investigate the tragedy at a hotel in the Kartalkaya ski resort, where 78 people died. The commission will include 22 MPs from the parties represented in parliament.
The commission will be formed by electing MPs in a vote next week and will work for three months. MPs will be able to conduct on-site inspections and inspections.
In addition, representatives and heads of ministries and departments are expected to be invited to the parliament to provide information related to the investigation. The committee is also expected to summon Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, as his department is responsible for operating tourism facilities.
Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus told reporters earlier that he hoped the deputies' findings would help clarify the causes of the tragedy and make a significant contribution to the investigation into the fire, which is being conducted by the prosecutor's office. He also expressed hope that all those responsible for the disaster would be brought to justice.
