A pregnant woman was shot dead during an Israeli military operation in Tulkarem in the West Bank, according to Palestinian reports cited by DPA.
Her unborn child also did not survive, the Ramallah Health Ministry reported, cited by BTA.
The 23-year-old woman was eight months pregnant. Her husband was also seriously injured when Israeli soldiers opened fire on their car in the Nur Shams refugee neighborhood. An Israeli army spokesman said the reports were being investigated.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced today that the Israeli army was expanding its offensive in the northern West Bank to include the refugee neighborhood of "Nur Shams".
"We are destroying the infrastructure of terrorists in the refugee camps and preventing their return," the minister said in a statement published on the social network "Ex".
According to Tulkarm Governor Abdullah Kmail, the operation in Nur Shams resulted in widespread destruction that forced hundreds of people to flee their homes.
A 14-year-old boy was also wounded in the stomach by gunfire, the Palestinian Red Crescent reported.
