A Volkswagen Polo driver hit pedestrians in Yekaterinburg, one person died, three others, including a child, were injured, reports the Telegram channel of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate for the Sverdlovsk Region.
“Three pedestrians, including a woman with a child and a man, were taken to a medical facility with various injuries“, the message says.
According to preliminary data, during the day in the area of house No. 232 on “Moskovskaya“ Street in the Leninsky District, the driver of a 1992 Volkswagen Polo was driving along the road in the direction of “Svetlorechenskaya“ Street at a safe speed. In doing so, he hit a Lexus and a Toyota RAV 4 moving in front of him, then hit a Nissan March parked on the side of the road and ran over four pedestrians.
As noted by the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate for the Sverdlovsk Region, the Nissan car had a damaged wheel. Two men approached the driver and were helping him change the tire when the accident occurred. In violation of traffic rules, they did not put on an emergency stop sign and did not use passive protection. In addition, the drivers of the Lexus and Toyota left the scene of the accident. They are currently being sought by law enforcement agencies.
