US Vice President Warns of Risks of Over-Regulation of AI - 1

Over-regulation of artificial intelligence could stifle the development of the technology. This was stated by US Vice President J.D. Vance during the Artificial Intelligence Summit in Paris, reported "Reuters", quoted by News.bg.

He added that moderation of content on social networks should be seen as a form of "authoritarian censorship".

Vance stressed that the United States intends to remain the leading force in the field of AI and categorically opposes excessive regulations coming from the European Union. He warned that these regulations could "kill a transformative industry".

The US vice president said artificial intelligence must remain free from ideological bias, adding that US AI would not be used as a tool for authoritarian censorship. He said navigating the European Union's online privacy rules, known as GDPR, imposes significant compliance costs, which is particularly difficult for smaller companies.

"US laws will support all technologies and developers," Vance said. He stressed that the world should be careful when leaders call for safety regulations that could strengthen their powerful status.

French President Emmanuel Macron also called on the European Union to reduce bureaucracy to facilitate the development of artificial intelligence.
