US, UK and Australia impose sanctions on Russian hackers linked to cybercrime - 1

The United States has joined Australia and Britain in imposing sanctions on Russian hosting provider Zservers for its role in supporting Lockbit ransomware attacks, reports „Reuters“, reports News.bg.

The US Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control also named two Russian nationals who, according to US authorities, are key administrators of Zservers — a hosting provider with „impenetrable“ infrastructure.

“Cybercriminals and other ransomware actors rely on third-party network service providers like Zservers to carry out their attacks on U.S. and international critical infrastructure,“ said Bradley Smith, acting undersecretary of the Treasury Department for terrorism and financial intelligence.

This measure is part of joint cyber sanctions imposed by the U.S., the U.K. and Australia last year against the ransomware group Evil Corp, the Treasury Department said in a statement.
