The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal and his Albanian counterpart Edi Rama discussed defense cooperation and strengthening of sanctions pressure on Russia, including efforts to counter the Russian “shadow fleet“. The Ukrainian Prime Minister announced this yesterday on his Telegram profile, BTA reports.
The term “shadow fleet“ is usually used to refer to tankers that are used to circumvent sanctions and/or other restrictions on the trade in oil and oil products.
Shmygal expressed his gratitude to Albania for the training of Ukrainian military. He noted that Ukraine expects to continue and expand this program in accordance with the agreement on long-term cooperation and support signed in January.
The parties also discussed the issue of bringing Russia to justice.
Shmighal welcomed the opening of the Albanian embassy in Kiev. According to him, this event will help strengthen cooperation between Ukraine and Albania at all levels.
“We appreciate Albania's support for initiatives in favor of Ukraine, as well as for our country's future membership in the EU and NATO. Thank you for all the assistance provided after Russia's full-scale invasion,“ he added.
