The creation of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders cannot be postponed. This was stated today by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, quoted by the state television TRT-Haber, BTA reported.
According to the Turkish head of state, peace in the Middle East is impossible without resolving the conflict in the Gaza Strip.
Erdogan, who arrived in Indonesia last night on a visit, spoke at a joint press conference with his Indonesian counterpart Prabowo Subianto.
The Turkish president also stated that Israel must compensate for the damage it has caused with its aggressive actions in the Gaza Strip.
The total damage caused as a result of the Israeli attacks, which lasted 15 months, amounts to nearly 100 billion dollars. Let us not forget that the principle of law is that the damage should be compensated by the perpetrator, Erdogan stressed.
He also stated that Turkey and Indonesia will cooperate in the reconstruction of Gaza.
We highly appreciate Indonesia's position on the Palestinian issue. In the coming period, we will continue to work with Indonesia for the reconstruction of Gaza and for the defense of the Palestinian cause, Erdogan said.
