There should be no peace agreement concluded through the heads of Ukrainians and Europeans, German Foreign Minister Analene Berbock said today at the start of the Munich Security Conference, Reuters reported.
"With a pseudo-peace - through the heads of Ukrainians and Europeans - nothing will be achieved," Berbock said. "A pseudo-peace will not bring long-term security either for the people of Ukraine, or for us in Europe, or for the United States", the German foreign minister added.
Her words came after a phone call to Russian President Vladimir Putin by US President Donald Trump, who announced the start of peace talks, which shocked US partners, Reuters noted.
Baerbock called for intensive talks with the participation of the United States and international partners during the Munich Security Conference, where political leaders, senior military and diplomats meet every year. Bulgarian President Rumen Radev and Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev are participating in the conference.
"Peace will only be achieved from a position of strength. This requires firm and long-term guarantees for Ukraine, a strong NATO alliance and progress in negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union," she added.
