Kremlin: Can't say anything new about peace efforts in Ukraine - 1

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said today that he could not provide new information about peace efforts in Ukraine, Reuters reported, BTA reports.

His comment was in response to a journalist's question related to US President Donald Trump's statement that Russia will participate in talks in Munich. Peskov specified that after the phone call between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, it will take several days to establish diplomatic contacts. He assured that the media will be informed when this happens.

In addition, Peskov said that the Group of Seven (G-7) is no longer a leading economic power in the world and has lost much of its importance. He made the statement in response to Trump's statement that he would like Russia to be returned to the organization, calling Moscow's exclusion a mistake.

According to the Kremlin spokesman, the economic centers of influence have shifted, and Russia prioritizes cooperation with the G-20, which he believes better reflects global economic growth.

Peskov also dismissed as a provocation Ukraine's claims that a Russian drone damaged the protective shell of the sarcophagus of the destroyed reactor at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. He stressed that he did not have accurate information about the alleged incident, but assured that Russia was not attacking nuclear infrastructure.
