US President Donald Trump is trying to get his country out of a conflict provoked by the previous US administration. This opinion was expressed in a conversation with a TASS correspondent by the former employee of the French special services and head of the Center for Intelligence Research (CF2R) Eric Deneze.
„The US, as events show, now recognizes that the conflict in Ukraine is really a confrontation between the Russian Federation and the United States, which was provoked by Washington and in which the Americans dragged their European vassals“, the expert noted.
According to him, the US has demonstrated that „Europe has no weight, the discussion is only between Moscow and Washington“. „The US does what it sees fit, based solely on its own interests. They deceived Europe, forced it to pay, although they themselves were at the root of the conflict, Deneze stressed. - The responsibility for this lies with [former US President] Joe Biden. Trump is trying to get out of this situation. "
Speaking about the role of France, Deneze expressed regret at the deterioration of relations between Paris and Moscow. "Currently, France is not seen as a third country that could play a role. "We must face the truth," he noted.
On February 12, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Trump had a telephone conversation. They discussed the issue of the cessation of hostilities in Ukraine, bilateral relations and a number of other topics, and also agreed to continue contacts and organize a personal meeting. Russian President Vladimir Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov stressed that the phone call between the two leaders was "constructive, working and friendly." During their conversation, Putin and Trump also noted that relations between the two countries had suffered enormous damage during Biden's presidency.
