The head of the US Office of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Elon Musk, has spoken out in support of right-wing political forces in at least 18 countries in the past 2 years, the television company NBC reported.
According to its calculations, these countries, in addition to the US, include Argentina, Brazil, Great Britain, Venezuela, Hungary, Germany, Israel, India, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Canada, Romania, El Salvador, Turkey and South Africa.
As NBC notes, Musk’s global fame as the head of Tesla and SpaceX, as well as his “huge megaphone“ in the form of an X page with over 217 million followers, is beneficial to right-wing political movements. In addition, after US President Donald Trump returns to power, Musk can “offer foreign leaders another channel for communication with the White House“.
Earlier, the White House said that Musk is a “special employee of the US government“, although he works in its composition on a voluntary basis. The billionaire was appointed head of DOGE by Trump. Immediately after the inauguration of the American leader on January 20, the department began a large-scale audit of US budget spending. In total, Musk expects to reduce the country's government spending by $ 2 trillion. At Musk's initiative, the activities of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) were suspended for the purpose of its further reorganization.
