US President Donald Trump believes he could meet "very soon" with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to discuss ending the war in Ukraine, reports "Reuters".
Trump said he is working hard to achieve peace and said he believes both Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky want a ceasefire.
We recall that his comments come at a time when the United States and Russia are preparing for initial talks in Saudi Arabia in the coming days.
A delegation from the Ukrainian government has also arrived in Saudi Arabia.
"There will be dozens of meetings in the coming days to prepare for President Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to Saudi Arabia. In particular, we are preparing to sign important economic agreements with the countries of the region," Ukrainian Finance Minister Yulia Sviridenko wrote on Facebook.
Kiev, however, has not been officially invited to the US-Russia meetings.
French President Emmanuel Macron has called European leaders to an extraordinary summit in Paris on Monday. This was reported earlier to "Politico" by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski. He is participating in the Munich Security Conference.
"I am very glad that President Macron has called our leaders to Paris," said Radoslaw Sikorski.
He did not fail to add that he expects European leaders to discuss "in a very serious way" the challenges posed by US President Donald Trump.
"President Trump has a method of action that the Russians call "razvedka boem" - intelligence through combat.
