The United States and Russia have agreed to take steps to reduce tensions in bilateral relations and launch efforts to end the war in Ukraine. This was stated by the US State Department, emphasizing that the process is in its early stages, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA
“A phone call followed by a meeting is not enough to establish lasting peace“, said State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce after the meeting in Saudi Arabia.
During the talks, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov agreed to form high-level teams to work to end the conflict as soon as possible, Bruce reported.
In addition, the two diplomats agreed to cooperate on issues of common geopolitical interest, as well as to explore economic and investment opportunities that could arise after the end of the war.
