The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) said on Wednesday that it had intercepted and tracked a Russian military aircraft flying in international airspace near Alaska.
“NORAD detected and tracked a Russian military aircraft flying in the Alaska Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) on February 18, 2025. The Russian aircraft remained in international airspace and did not enter US or Canadian sovereign airspace,“ the command said in a statement.
The United States does not consider Russia's activities in international airspace near Alaska to be a threat, the statement noted.
