Two planes collided in the air near Marana Regional Airport in Arizona. This was reported by American media, bTV reported.
The incident occurred on Wednesday morning, around 8:25 local time.
One plane was a Lancair, and the other – Cessna 172. Both are small single-engine aircraft.
There were two people on board each of them, who died.
The airport where the crash occurred does not have an air traffic control tower.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has classified the incident as a "general aviation" incident, and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has opened an investigation.
Aviation safety issues gained public attention in late January after a passenger plane collided with a Black Hawk helicopter in Washington, D.C., killing more than 60 people.
Smaller plane crashes followed in Philadelphia, Alaska, Toronto, and Georgia, further raising concerns about air travel in the United States.
