Elon Musk described the head of Romania's Constitutional Court as a "tyrant" on Monday, in yet another attack on Bucharest by a member of US President Donald Trump's administration after the cancellation of the 2024 presidential election, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

Romania's Constitutional Court annulled elections ahead of second round in December after declassified intelligence documents show suspicions of Russian interference in favor of far-right and NATO-critical candidate Calin Georgescu. These accusations were rejected by Moscow.

Yesterday, Constitutional Court President Marian Enache rejected threats from Georgescu, who warned constitutional judges that if he were elected president, they would be tried for treason.

In Munich last week, US Vice President J.D. Vance questioned the annulment of the Romanian elections, using them as an example of what he said was undemocratic censorship of freedom of speech and political opponents by European governments.

Musk, who heads the new Department of State Efficiency in the Trump administration, shared a post on the social media platform X that said Enache had rejected US pressure to allow Georgescu to run in new elections in May.

"This man is a tyrant, not a judge," Musk wrote in response to the publication.

Musk has previously shared comments by Georgescu on social media, as well as podcasts by controversial far-right hosts such as Alex Jones, the agency noted.

Georgescu, who has praised Romania's fascist leaders of the 1930s and has expressed admiration for both the US and Russian presidents, remains voters' preferred choice according to opinion polls.

Musk faces accusations of meddling in European politics after criticizing some leaders, including British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, while openly supporting the German far-right "Alternative for Germany" in German parliamentary elections scheduled for Sunday.
