Trump plans new investments in NATO's missile shield - 1

The US Department of Defense has published a public procurement notice to provide special communications between the missile shield in Deveselu in Romania, the US Naval Forces Europe Command based in Capodichino (Italy), and the US base in Wiesbaden (Germany), the Romanian news channel Digi 24 reports. The US base in Wiesbaden is currently used by NATO to provide military assistance to Ukraine and train Ukrainian military personnel, the channel reminds.

A similar notice has also been published to establish special communications between the base in Redzikovo in Poland and the US and NATO bases in Germany in Ramstein and Wiesbaden, Digi 24 points out.

The missile shield in the Polish city of Redzikovo is similar to the one in Deveselu, Digi 24 notes. The base in Poland was officially opened in November 2024 and is part of NATO's collective defense project. It is part of the network of radars and missile defense systems that Washington began building fifteen years ago to protect itself from ballistic missile threats coming from countries outside the Euro-Atlantic area, in particular from Iran.

NATO's missile defense shield includes the base in Reġikowo in Poland, the shield in Deveselu in Romania, the Aegis systems of the US Navy at the NATO base in Rota (Spain) and an early warning radar located in Turkey, the television recalls.
