Russian forces launched massive airstrikes on energy facilities in Kharkiv region in northeastern Ukraine late last night, regional governor Oleg Synegubov said on "Telegram", quoted by Ukrinform and BTA.
Ukrainian air defenses have been activated to repel the attacks, and emergency services are on the scene, the regional governor added, without giving further details about the targets of the strikes, urging locals not to report any information.
According to Synegubov, one person was injured in the Russian attack in the town of Balakliya, southeast of Kharkiv.
Ukrainian Air Force reported a threat of Russian strikes with guided bombs and drones in various parts of region.
Kharkov, Ukraine's second-largest city, withstood the advance of Russian forces in the early stages of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Since then, the city and the region around it have frequently been the target of Russian air strikes, Reuters notes.
