The Russian civil aviation agency „Rosaviatsia“ temporarily closed Moscow's „Sheremetyevo“ airport for several hours, News.bg reports.

„To ensure the safety of civil aircraft flights, at 02:41 Moscow time, temporary restrictions were imposed on the operation of „Sheremetyevo“ airport. It is temporarily not accepting or sending flights“, said a statement by „Rosaviatsia“, quoted by the BBC.

In recent months, Russian airports have often temporarily suspended operations due to threats of Ukrainian drone attacks. However, there were no reports of drones over Moscow Oblast or surrounding areas that night.

Moscow's other two main airports - Vnukovo and Domodedovo - remained open and were not affected by the restrictions. Sheremetyevo is located northwest of the Russian capital.
