US President Donald Trump has lost interest in a deal for Kiev's underground resources after a dispute with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House. This was reported by Reuters, citing a senior US official.
The agency notes that after the dispute with the head of Ukraine at the meeting, which was supposed to end with the signing of an agreement on rare earth metals, Trump returned to Florida and does not plan to return to Washington in the near future.
On February 28, Zelensky arrived in Washington to meet with Trump. Communication between the politicians was tense. Trump made numerous reproaches to Zelensky, and US Vice President J. D. Vance directly accused the guest of his disrespect and ingratitude. As Fox Business learned after reviewing the text of the document, the proceeds from these projects were to be distributed between the parties upon receipt.
Trump believes that the agreement could reach a value of $ 1 trillion. According to him, a "fair" deal would confirm support for Ukraine and send a signal to Russia that the Americans do not intend to leave the region. However, the draft agreement does not contain direct guarantees for the security of Kiev.
