After the quarrel, the Ukrainian ambassador to Washington and Volodymyr Zelensky's advisers "literally with tears in their eyes" demanded to continue the negotiations. This was stated by US National Security Advisor Mike Walz.
He noted that Zelensky would continue to argue, as he is already accustomed to the unconditional support of Washington.
Walz believes that Zelensky is used to being given support of any size, as if it were a blank check. "Because of what he's heard for years from Biden and his team, and he clearly hasn't understood that there's a new sheriff in town, there's a new president, we're going to take a new approach to peace," he said.
Zelensky, Walz stressed, "has done his country a disservice." and his behavior is “completely unacceptable“.
The chairman of the US Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, Ted Cruz, believes that the negotiations between US President Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky will go down in history as the most disastrous meeting in the Oval Office of the White House.
“President Zelensky showed up in the Oval Office and decided he was going to fight Donald Trump, decided he was there to insult Donald Trump, decided to attack and belittle Donald Trump“, Cruz said in a podcast published on his X page. “And I believe without exaggeration that this will go down in history as the most disastrous meeting in the Oval Office in the history of our country“, he added.
