Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei recalled the words from his statement made on March 1, 2022, about the futility of relying on support from Western countries, after the dispute between US President Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House.
„The first lesson from the situation in Ukraine is that the support of Western governments for countries and governments that are their puppets is a mirage. All governments must understand this. “Those governments that rely on the US and Europe should look at the current situation in Ukraine“, Khamenei quoted on Saturday as saying from three years ago.
In March 2022, Iran's supreme leader also said that “the US policy, of which Kiev fell victim, is at the root of the Ukrainian conflict, as Washington interfered in Ukraine's internal affairs, organizing color revolutions”.
On February 28, Zelensky arrived at the White House to meet with Trump. During the conversation in the presence of journalists, a fight broke out between them, in which Trump pointed out Zelensky's disrespectful attitude towards the US, and the country's Vice President J. D. Vance reproached the guest for forgetting to thank Washington for the support it provides to Kiev. The press conference after the meeting between Trump and Zelensky was canceled, and the signing of the agreement on mineral resources between Ukraine and the United States did not take place.
The American leader published a statement on the social network Truth Social, in which he emphasized that Zelensky had shown disrespect and demonstrated an unwillingness to peacefully resolve the Ukrainian conflict.
