French President Emmanuel Macron has not yet taken real steps to communicate with Russian President Vladimir Putin, despite statements about his readiness for dialogue. This was announced by the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov in a comment on the program „Moscow. Kremlin. Putin" on the „Russia-1" TV channel, and the video was published on the „Zarubin" Telegram channel.
„Before he said that he was ready to communicate with Putin. At the same time, no real steps were taken in this direction“, he said.
The Kremlin representative stressed that France takes a position „for continuing the war by any means“. Peskov noted that over time it will become clear exactly how the Europeans' position will transform after their contacts with the US administration and in the context of the “suddenly emerging dynamics in Russian-American relations“.
Earlier, Macron said in an interview with French Sunday newspapers that he did not rule out the possibility of resuming dialogue with his Russian counterpart.
