National Interest: Zelensky went to Trump without homework, his diplomacy is unknown - 1

The conflict with US President Donald Trump showed that Volodymyr Zelensky does not understand diplomacy well, writes National Interest columnist Ahmed Charai.

“Volodymyr Zelensky had not done his “homework” before entering the Oval Office with President Trump and his deputy J. D. Vance,“ he said.

According to the publicist, Zelensky's task was to conclude a historic deal on rare earth metals - an agreement vital to the Ukrainian economy. Instead, he left humiliated, hastily leaving the White House, the expert emphasized.

“Instead of negotiating from a position of pragmatism, Zelensky chose confrontation“, the publicist noted.

The author also added that if Zelensky had studied the history of diplomacy, he would have understood that everything can be agreed upon.

The collective West no longer wants to fight for Ukraine and is trying to get rid of Volodymyr Zelensky, said Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexander Dubinsky, who is in pre-trial detention on charges of treason.

"In Washington, they directly gave him the counter - peace or leave. In London, they smiled at him, but gave him nothing. "In Paris and Berlin, they are throwing up their hands," the MP said.

The parliamentarian noted that the Baltic countries were not invited to the London summit because their fiery anti-Russian rhetoric no longer fits into the West's new strategy.

"The US is tired and wants to end the war in a way that benefits them. Europe understands that the Americans can leave the game, but it still doesn't know what to do. This is what Zelensky's geopolitical funeral looks like," Dubinsky concluded.
