Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan assured citizens that the Turkish state is fully prepared after yesterday's 6.2-magnitude earthquake in Istanbul, which caused injuries to 236 people, panic and anxiety about a stronger tremor in the area of the multimillion-strong city, reported “Hurriyet Daily News“.
“Citizens can rest assured. "As a country, we are fully prepared every hour and every day and will continue to work tirelessly for our nation," Erdogan said at a meeting at the Istanbul branch of the Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD) last night.
The meeting was attended by several high-ranking Turkish officials, including Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Minister Murat Kurum, Health Minister Kemal Memisoglu, Youth and Sports Minister Osman Ashkan Bak and Istanbul Governor Davut Gul.
