Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is ready to return to the White House for negotiations with the Donald Trump administration, Ukrainian TV FREEDOM reported.
Last week, the negotiations in Washington suffered a fiasco after Trump accused Zelensky in a public dispute that he was not grateful to the US for military aid and wanted the war to continue. Zelensky said that Ukraine wants peace, but with security guarantees and not to the detriment of the state.
The head of state of the Ukrainian state in an interview with media representatives after his visit to the UK said that he was ready to return to Washington, but with “equal dialogue“.
“For me, it is a sign of respect to be in the White House when the President of the United States invited me. Just like I met with senators. We always meet with bipartisan support in a party format. As the President of Ukraine, I believe that our country is no better than others, but it is certainly no worse. With all my actions since the beginning of the war, I have proven that we deserve an equal dialogue“, Zelensky said.
“I represent the interests of a country that is highly dependent on support and partnership, so of course, if I am invited to a constructive dialogue, to solve real problems, serious problems, to take real and decisive actions, I will agree. Out of respect for America, the American people, the president and both parties, to the United States as a whole“, Zelensky added.
We recall that on February 28, the presidents of Ukraine and the United States held a meeting in the Oval Office of the White House. The discussion became heated, with Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump speaking in high tones. Trump said that the Ukrainian leader was supposedly not ready for peace with America's participation. The President of Ukraine left the White House prematurely.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine feels strong support in Europe and expressed his satisfaction with "European unity at an exceptionally high level, not seen for a long time," Reuters reported. It notes that Zelensky said this after a summit of Ukraine's allies in London.
