The White House announced that the plan adopted by Arab countries in Cairo yesterday to rebuild the Gaza Strip does not correspond to the reality, which is that the enclave is "currently unlivable", Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

The Israeli position was also similar. The Israeli Foreign Ministry said last night that the resolution of the Arab League summit in the Egyptian capital Cairo on rebuilding the Gaza Strip "failed to respond" of the realities of the situation after the attack by the radical Palestinian group "Hamas" against Israeli territory on October 7, 2023.

The White House added that US President Donald Trump maintains his position on the reconstruction of a Gaza Strip, "free of "Hamas".

The unprecedented cross-border attack by "Hamas" against Israeli territory in the fall of 2023 led to the war in Gaza.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry said that the resolution of the Arab League summit in the Egyptian capital Cairo on the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip "failed to respond" to the realities of the situation, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

"Hamas" welcomed the plan adopted by Arab leaders for the reconstruction of Gaza and called for the provision of funds for its implementation, the world agency added.

"The brazen terrorist attack by "Hamas", which caused the deaths of thousands of Israelis and hundreds were kidnapped, is not mentioned in the resolution, nor is there any condemnation of this terrorist organization of murderers," the Israeli Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The ministry reaffirms its support for US President Donald Trump's plan for the Palestinian population of Gaza to relocate to neighboring countries Jordan and Egypt. According to the Israeli side, Arab leaders rejected this option at the Cairo meeting, without giving it a chance to be implemented.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi announced that Arab leaders had supported Cairo's plan for the post-war reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, which would allow the two million Palestinian population to remain in the enclave, Reuters and the Associated Press reported earlier.

A 112-page draft of Egypt's $53 billion plan envisages the reconstruction of Gaza by 2030 without displacing its population.

The first phase requires the removal of unexploded ordnance and the clearing of more than 50 million tons of debris left over from Israeli bombings and military offensives.

Israeli parliamentarian Limor Son Har-Melech said that one of the Palestinian terrorists involved in her husband's murder was released from prison as part of the truce with "Hamas", the Israeli news agency TPS reported, quoted by BTA.

"This morning I woke up to the news that the terrorist who killed my husband was released in the deal with "Hamas", and no one told me about it," the Jewish Power lawmaker told families of Israeli hostages at a meeting of the Knesset's Constitution, Law and Justice Committee.

Limor Son Har-Melech's husband, Shuli, was killed in a drive-by shooting by five Palestinians near the city of Ramallah in August 2003. Limor, who was seven months pregnant, was in critical condition but survived and gave birth to a healthy child.

The Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades claimed responsibility for the attack. Limor Son Har-Melech did not specify who was released or when it happened.

Israel released 1,778 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for 33 Israeli hostages after a ceasefire agreed on January 19 took effect.

At least 1,180 people were killed and 252 Israeli and foreign nationals were taken hostage on October 7, 2023, in a Hamas attack on Israeli communities near the Gaza border. Of the remaining 59 hostages, 36 are believed to be dead.

Syria's new leader, Ahmed al-Sharaa, met for the first time with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

This happened last night, on the sidelines of the Arab League summit in Cairo. There, Sharaa also met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and European Council President Antonio Costa.

The invitation to participate in the Arab leaders' forum was the first of its kind extended to the new Syrian president since he ousted Bashar al-Assad on December 8 last year.

Under the previous president, Syria was expelled from the Arab League in late 2011. after the bloody suppression of pro-democracy protests that sparked a civil war, recalls Agence France-Presse.

The Syrian state agency specifies that the country's Foreign Minister Assad Hassan al-Shibani attended the meeting between Sharaa and Sisi, but does not provide details about the agenda of the talks.

The Egyptian presidency announced that Sisi insisted to Sharaa for a comprehensive political process in Syria, without isolating any party.

The Egyptian president also expressed his country's desire to achieve unity and security in Syria, stating his firm opposition to any "encroachment" on Syrian territory.
