Mike Walz: Trump will consider restoring military aid to Ukraine in peace talks - 1

US President Donald Trump will consider the possibility of restoring military aid to Ukraine if peace talks are organized and steps are taken to build trust, said White House National Security Advisor Mike Walz, quoted by "Reuters", reports News.bg.

On March 3, Trump suspended military aid to Kiev in an attempt to realign US foreign policy and take a more conciliatory stance towards Russia. On Tuesday evening, he announced that he had received a letter from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, expressing readiness for peace talks.

Walz described the letter as a "positive first step" and added that a date, location and format for future talks that could end the war are already being discussed.

"We are in talks about specific confidence-building measures that will then be presented to Russia," Walz said in an interview with "Fox & Friends", without specifying exactly what those measures would be.

Trump also indicated that Ukraine has expressed its readiness to sign an agreement with the United States on mineral resources – a deal that Washington says is key to continuing American support for Kiev's defense.

"If we can put confidence-building measures on the table and move the negotiations forward, the president will seriously consider lifting this pause," Walz stressed.

He added that it is important „that both sides negotiate in good faith – first for partial, then for permanent peace“.
