Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has expressed support for the idea of stopping air and sea attacks in the war in Ukraine as a measure to strengthen trust between the warring parties, Turkish state television TRT Haber reported.
"We have made very intensive and sincere efforts to end the war through dialogue. At every opportunity, we have clearly stated that there are no losers in a just peace," Erdogan said at an online meeting with leaders of EU partner countries.
"At the same time, we firmly supported the territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine, our strategic partner," he added.
Erdogan expressed his support for the idea of stopping air and sea attacks as a measure to strengthen trust between the two countries. "Our efforts to reach an agreement that guarantees the safety of shipping in the Black Sea are consistent with this approach," he added.
A proposal for a partial ceasefire in Ukraine, which would not cover ground fighting but only an end to air, sea and energy infrastructure attacks, was presented by London and Paris.
