The British Coastguard has sent units to the scene of a collision between a tanker and a cargo ship off the northeast coast of England, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency reported, quoted by Reuters, BTA reports.
A rescue helicopter, rescue and firefighting ships, as well as an aircraft have been mobilized from nearby cities. The operation to contain the consequences of the incident continues.
The signal for the collision was received at 9:48 a.m. (11:48 a.m. Bulgarian time).
According to the BBC, the oil tanker involved in the incident caught fire, but Reuters emphasizes that it cannot independently confirm this information.
