American President Donald Trump again called for Greenland to become part of the US on the eve of tomorrow's parliamentary elections in the autonomous Danish territory, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.
„We are ready to INVEST BILLIONS OF DOLLARS to create new jobs and MAKE YOU RICH – and if you choose to do so, consider yourself welcome to become part of the greatest nation in the world – the USA“, Trump wrote last night on his social platform „Truth Social“.
The publication was also shared on the platform „X“ by Elon Musk, who heads the government efficiency ministry appointed by Trump.
In an interview with Danish public broadcaster DR, broadcast today, Greenland Prime Minister Mute Egede sharply criticized Trump.
“The things that are happening in the world right now make me seriously worried that the world order is falling apart on many fronts, and maybe in the US there is a president who is completely unpredictable and creates anxiety among people“, Egede said.
According to Ulrik Pram Gad of the Danish Institute for International Studies, Trump's publication will not significantly affect the results of tomorrow's election in Greenland.
“I am sure that the majority of voters in Greenland are already aware of Trump's interest and have formed an opinion on the matter“, the expert commented, quoted by DPA.
