A Georgian court has sentenced the country's former President Mikheil Saakashvili to nine more years in prison after finding him guilty on charges of embezzlement, Reuters reported, citing the Interpress news agency, BTA reports.
Saakashvili, who was Georgia's president from 2004 to 2013, is already serving a six-year sentence for abuse of power. He was arrested in 2021 after returning to the country.
Saakashvili spent much of his time in prison in a prison hospital due to his deteriorating health.
