Canada's next Prime Minister Mark Carney will be sworn in and take over the government on March 14, CTV reported.
According to the media outlet, the ceremony will take place at 11:00 a.m. Ottawa time /5:00 p.m. Bulgarian time/ at the residence of Canada's Governor General Mary Simon.
Carney will be joined by members of his cabinet, but it is not yet clear who will be in it. Sources at the channel added that current Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will resign before the ceremony.
On March 9, Canada's ruling Liberal Party elected former Bank of Canada Governor Mark Carney as its new leader. He will be the new prime minister until the next parliamentary election, which is scheduled for October 20. It is possible that Carney will call a snap election. Trudeau previously said he would step down as leader of the ruling party and resign as prime minister, but only after a new Liberal leader is elected. Trudeau has been prime minister since 2015.
