Record high temperatures were measured yesterday in many parts of Turkey, with the mercury column showing over 25 degrees Celsius in a total of 49 districts, the Turkish Meteorological Service reported, BTA reported.
At the same time, temperatures are starting to drop from today, with winter returning to the country on Wednesday and snowfall and sub-zero temperatures expected in a number of parts of the country.
A real summer arrived over the weekend in most of Turkey. The highest temperature was measured yesterday in the southern city of Adana - 33.5 degrees.
In the capital Ankara, it was very warm for the season in the morning hours, and during the day temperatures reached 27-28 degrees. On a warm Sunday, parks and recreation areas around the Turkish capital were packed with people. According to the website of the General Directorate of Meteorology, temperatures across the country yesterday were 10 to 18 degrees above seasonal norms.
