The State Prosecutor's Office of North Macedonia announced this morning that it is investigating the servers of the Ministry of Economy in connection with the alleged forgery of licenses for the nightclub in Kocani, in which dozens of young people lost their lives as a result of a fire, reports the Macedonian publication “MKD“, quoted by BTA.
The prosecutor's office also reported that an order was also issued for a graphological examination of signatures on documents related to the club.
The department reported that the prosecutor's team working on the investigation to establish the causes of the tragedy has been expanded and currently consists of nine prosecutors.
The fire, which broke out yesterday morning at around 2:30 a.m. during a concert by the famous band DNA, killed 59 young people, and over 155 were injured. The cause of the fire is believed to be pyrotechnics on stage, which ignited the ceiling of the room, after which the fire quickly spread throughout the building.
On-site inspections revealed numerous malfunctions with both the venue's license and safety measures. According to the publication “Vecher“, the club acquired an illegal license after paying a bribe. The license was issued when Kreshnik Bekteshi from the Democratic Union for Integration was Minister of Economy.
