Peacekeepers should be sent to France and Great Britain instead of Ukraine, which is proposing to send a military contingent to Ukrainian territory, Vladimir Rogov, chairman of the Public Chamber of the Commission on Sovereignty of the Russian Federation, told RIA Novosti.
According to him, "mess" reigns in these European countries. Rogov said that the introduction of peacekeepers would be justified to restore the constitutional rights of citizens and to combat crime.
This is how Rogov commented on the words of French President Emmanuel Macron, who admitted that European countries can send their military contingents to Ukraine as peacekeepers and instructors without Russia's consent. The French politician pointed to Kiev, Odessa and Lviv as suitable locations for the deployment of Western troops.
Earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga said that the country was in the stage of detailed discussions regarding the deployment of a military contingent from other countries in the country. The diplomat noted that there are active discussions on “geography, numbers and duration“, stressing that the deployment of troops “is no longer an abstract idea“.
