US President Donald Trump assured that the expected visit of US representatives to Greenland this week is not a provocation, Agence France-Presse reported, quoted by BTA.
Trump made this statement against the backdrop of statements by Greenlandic Prime Minister Mute Egede that it is a "foreign interference".
"This is a friendly gesture, not a provocation", the American leader told journalists after a government meeting at the White House.
"There are many people in Greenland who would like something to happen so that they are properly protected and provided with the necessary care. "They're coming to us, not us coming to them," Trump said, without elaborating.
The White House announced on Sunday that Usha Vance, the wife of US Vice President J.D. Vance, and US National Security Advisor Mike Walz would be in Greenland from Thursday to Saturday.
In the middle of this month, Donald Trump said that Greenland would be annexed to the US in one way or another and that its accession would be good for international security.
The Greenlandic prime minister said he would not meet with the US delegation.
Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark.
