Alexander Lukashenko, elected for the seventh time as President of Belarus, officially took office, TASS reported.

The solemn ceremony of his swearing-in was held at the Palace of Independence in Minsk. In the presence of senior state officials of the country, as well as numerous guests, Lukashenko swore to serve the people faithfully, to respect and protect the rights and freedoms of man and citizen, to observe and defend the constitution.

"This victory is not only mine, but also of millions of Belarusians. On January 26, we overcame another historical crossroads, we passed it confidently and wisely, without deviating from the path we have been following for a third of a century," Lukashenko noted.

He specified that this is the path of peace and creation, national unity and patriotism, justice and broad opportunities for everyone. As in the beginning, we again chose our independence, continuity of the political course and a confident future, we showed the maturity of the Belarusian nation, the triumph of our unity, Alexander Lukashenko pointed out.

According to him, swearing allegiance to the homeland and its people in the year of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory is a huge responsibility. "Today we all take an oath of faithful service to the Fatherland and will not allow anyone to erase the creative trace in our history and that of our predecessors," the president explained.

According to him, a sovereign state has been created. Lukashenko noted that about three decades ago no one was interested in Belarus and knew nothing about the country. He noted that the country is in the spotlight today.

Belarus has united and become stronger despite those who sold their homeland for Western grants, trying to carry out a color revolution in the republic in 2020, Lukashenko emphasized.
