British authorities have refused to comment on the possibility of easing sanctions against Russia within the framework of the Black Sea Initiative, Sky News reported.
“Our position at the moment is that we hope for progress in the peace talks. We are closely following developments“, said a spokesman for British Prime Minister Keir Starmer's office, when asked whether Britain would follow the US in easing sanctions.
Earlier, the Kremlin issued a statement after expert consultations with Washington. It states that the parties have agreed to ensure the implementation of the Black Sea Initiative, which includes ensuring the safety of navigation in the Black Sea, non-use of force and prevention of the use of merchant ships for military purposes, while organizing appropriate control measures through inspection of such ships.
It was noted that the agreements between Russia and the United States on the Black Sea will enter into force after the lifting of sanctions against Rosselkhozbank and other financial organizations involved in ensuring international food trade operations.
