Ukraine has accused Russia of breaking a promise not to attack energy facilities, given during a telephone conversation between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, writes the BBC.
After separate talks in Saudi Arabia between Russia and the United States, as well as the United States and Ukraine, the countries declared a moratorium on mutual attacks on energy infrastructure. At the same time, Moscow claims that such a moratorium has been in effect since March 18, when Trump and Putin spoke.
The deputy head of the Ukrainian presidential administration, Igor Zhovkva, who participated in the negotiations in Saudi Arabia, said on Ukrainian television that since that date, the country's energy facilities have been hit eight times.
"Since March 18, at least eight energy infrastructure facilities in Ukraine have been shelled by the Russian Federation. We will not go into details, but this fact has been registered," Zhovkva said.
