US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he is not concerned about the decision of the Senate committee to request a report from the inspector general regarding a group chat on the Signal application, where senior administration officials discussed military strikes on Yemen. This is reported by The Washington Post, News.bg reports.

“It doesn't bother me“, Trump told reporters after announcing the new 25 percent tariffs on imported cars. “I want to find out if there was a mistake or if Signal is not working properly. Signal may not be a very good company.“

The Atlantic’s editor-in-chief, Jeffrey Goldberg, revealed three days ago that he had been inadvertently added to a group chat in which administration officials discussed airstrikes against the Houthis in Yemen earlier this month.

After initial denials from the White House, The Atlantic published a full transcript of the conversation on Wednesday, increasing pressure on the Trump administration.

The revelation has led to efforts by the White House to downplay the incident as the Senate prepares to investigate the incident and possible risks to the security of the administration’s communications.

Trump’s national security adviser, Mike Walz, said earlier that he takes “full responsibility” for Goldberg’s addition to the chat. In addition to details about the planned strikes on Yemen, the journalist also gained access to critical comments by Vice President J.D. Vance about the US's European allies.

In an interview with Fox News, Waltz categorically stated that he did not know Goldberg personally and denied having any information about how the journalist got into the chat.
