Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has announced the "end of an era" in relations with the US.
The Prime Minister said that Ottawa intends to radically change its economic policy in relation to the protectionism of the American side.
“We can no longer rely on trade relations with the US, as we did before“, he stressed.
And he specified that Canada has decided to reduce its economic dependence on the American market and focus on trade with other regions of the world. He noted that the government is already working to build independent supply chains in the country.
“We will create an entirely Canadian supply chain for the auto industry, from components to steel, aluminum and critical minerals,“ Carney said.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump threatened to impose import tariffs on the European Union and Canada if they tried to band together to harm Washington.
